A History Steeped in Technical Genius
The
Early Years
During the 1960’s Dr. Jerome Kurz, the founder, revolutionized
air flow measurement by developing a series of durable, compact,
and highly accurate thermal anemometer sensors which measure gas
flow electronically. From the roots of this early product development,
Dr. Jerry Kurz had the basis to start his own company and incorporated
Kurz Instruments, Inc. in 1977.
Dr. Kurz launched the company with the intent
of using his engineering skills, in conjunction with technology,
to make products that would help the environment while helping solve
some of the extreme challenges facing the industry. The company
grew from making portable instrumentation to more rugged industrial
devices used in the harshest environments for monitoring and measuring
flows of air and gasses. The heart of the company's products are
its rugged, solid-state velocity sensors which are based upon the
cooling effect of a moving gas over a heated sensor element. Kurz
is the recognized leader in thermal convection mass flow meters.
Second Generation
In April 2008, on the cusp of the company's 31st Anniversary, Dr.
Jerome Kurz, CEO, appointed his son, Daniel Kurz as the new president
of the company. Daniel had previously served over eight years as
General Manager for Kurz Instruments.
While Dr. Jerome Kurz will continue to lead the
current efforts with a number of high end, high level, ground breaking
projects that have always been the benchmark for the Kurz Instruments
reputation, Daniel will spear head a number of changes that will
catapult the company into the next 30 years of business growth.
